God Knows What It’s Like

The sun is out the sky is blue
There’s not a cloud to spoil the view
But a bitter wind is cutting through the heart of me

The weather man’s a funny guy
He says there’s no rain in the sky
He doesn’t know the storm inside the heart of me
You’re the only one who knows
Where emotions river flows
And all the hurt and all the gold inside of me

God knows where I’m coming from
God’s been in my shoes
God knows what it’s like to have the blues
God he heard me sing my song
God he knows my news
God knows what it’s like to have the blues

And I can hide the wrong and right
And sit alone and say good bye
To ships that pass by in the night
The heart of me

I’ll sing myself a silent song
About my life and what went wrong
As the world just moves along
Apart from me

You’re the only one who cares
And listens to my silent prayers
And wipes away the hidden tears
Inside of me
