So Much I Could Have Said

So much I could have said,
So many words unspoken,
The friendships that I’ve made,
The hearts that I’ve left broken.
The hopes and dreams I had
All fading into nothing,
And the life that could have been
Is shadowed by the real thing.

All I need is someone I can turn to,
A faithful friend that will help me through the night.
All I need is a shoulder I can cry on,
And a friend that points me to the light.

2. So often I have tried,
But my efforts came to nothing.
So often I’ve been blind
To the foolish ways I’ve taken.
And the pride I thought was strength
Leaves me by the roadside.
Now life goes racing by,
And I’m being left behind.
